Niri is a scrollable tiling Wayland compositor, written in Rust. It inspired by PaperWM - scrollable tiling extension for the GNOME Shell. Another difference between Niri and other Wayland compositors in TileOS, such as Sway, is that it uses the Smithay library rather than the wlroots library also used in COSMIC.

Tasks:

  • Packaging Niri (all Rust dependencies will be vendored)
  • Desktop metapackage (needs to figure out which software to be included in ISO)
  • Calamares settings (installer and LiveCD)
  • Default settings (first the basic ones for testing the work of Niri itself)
  • ISO config for iso-builder
